Bessie Mae Hopson

June 27, 1922 — October 6, 2017

Sister Bessie Mae Hopson,  95, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017.

She was the eldest of four children born to the late Douglas Newman and Dollie March Newman in Henderson, Texas. She moved to Amarillo in the mid-1940’s and was united in holy matrimony with the late Denver Hopson.

Sister Hopson was employed as a domestic worker for the late Marshall and Joanne Rhea of Marsh Electrical Supply for many years. She retired from their service in the late 1980’s.
She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for many years and in the later years, she relocated her membership to Jenkins Chapel Baptist Church where she was a member at the time of death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, a brother, two nephews and her husband of 45 years in 1991.

Sister Hopson leaves to cherish her memories two nephews, James Ray Simpson of Amarillo, Texas and Alvin (Jennifer) Champion of Shreveport, Louisiana and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, family and friends.
