Betty Rose Moore

Betty Rose Moore, 72, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

She enlightened this world on April 6, 1950, in Wellington, Collingsworth County, Texas, bringing joy to Herman and Frankie Lee Jones Moore.

Betty grew up a bubbly and happy little girl. She attended school at Booker T. Washington School through Junior High until the school closed in 1965, due to integration. She graduated from Wellington High School.

Betty continued her education by attending Paul Quinn College, completing one semester. She then moved to Amarillo, Texas, with her girlfriends to continue her education at Amarillo College. Betty fulfilled a lifelong dream when she graduated with a degree in nursing.

She returned home to give back by working at Collingsworth General Hospital. Betty extended her career by working at the Air Force Base hospital in Altus, Oklahoma, Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the Thomas E. Creek Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, in Amarillo, Texas, until she retired due to health reasons. Even through her illness, she was very knowledgeable of medicine.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Rasheeta Raquel Moore, two grandsons, Steven “Papa Bear” Moore and Julian Roberts, two brothers, Albert David Moore and Herman White, two sisters, Peggy Lee Johnson and Judy Lynn Moore, and three nephews, Herman Jerome Moore, Samuel Darren Moore, and David Roquel Moore.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Darrell Steven Moore, a brother, Herman Joseph Moore (Mary), five sisters, Merlyn Crawford, Mae Frances Moore, Lou Helen Moore, and Frankie Gail Moore, all of Amarillo, Texas, and Debra Reed of Denton, Texas, three grandchildren, Alexandria Moore, Stevanna Roberts, and Devante Roberts, seven great-grandchildren, Analla Roberts, Jazlynn Roberts, Alek Roberts, Jaliyah Roberts, Ahvianna Roberts, and Leilani Roberts, and a host of other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
