Obituary

Daniel Allen King, 38, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 29, 2026, at BSA Health Care System in Amarillo, Potter County, Texas.

On September 15, 1987, Daniel Allen King entered the world in Detroit, Michigan, with a spirit that would prove impossible to ignore. Born to Fredrick and Diane King, Daniel spent the next thirty-eight years leaving an impression on countless lives through his charisma, creativity, and generosity. While his time with us feels far too short, the impact of his life reaches far beyond the years he was given.

Daniel had a larger-than-life presence that drew people in. Whether standing behind a drumline, holding a microphone, entertaining a crowd, or stepping into a wrestling ring, he understood how to create an experience and make people feel something.

His artistic talents were evident from an early age. He sang in the youth choir at church, excelled as a percussionist in the marching bands at Clarenceville High School and Mumford High School, and expressed his creativity through drawing. He later studied psychology at Henry Ford Community College. As an adult, he continued sharing his gifts as a DJ and karaoke host, bringing energy, laughter, and music wherever he went.

Known to fans as “Handgun Dan,” Daniel embraced professional wrestling with unmatched passion. He loved the athleticism, storytelling, and the opportunity to connect with people from all walks of life. Wrestling allowed him to combine his natural charisma with his competitive spirit, and he excelled at both. Throughout his career, he wrestled for organizations across multiple states, earning numerous accomplishments, including Heavyweight Champion, Human Chess Champion, and, most recently, the Out of Luck Championship for Heartland Championship Wrestling (HCW).

Wrestling was more than a passion—it was a community Daniel helped build. As his experience grew, so did his influence. He became a trusted leader who negotiated appearances, recruited talent, transported and assembled rings, promoted events, and helped ensure shows ran successfully from start to finish. He also mentored emerging wrestlers, helping many find their place in the industry. Through wrestling, Daniel built lifelong friendships, and many who entered his life as fellow wrestlers became family.

His ability to invest in others extended far beyond the ring. As a youth camp counselor, he taught children about Christ and encouraged them to recognize their value and purpose. Throughout his life, he had a remarkable ability to see potential in people long before they saw it in themselves.

Of all the roles Daniel held, none were more important than husband and father. In 2009, he relocated to Amarillo, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Rae. Their relationship blossomed into a partnership built on love, friendship, and shared dreams. They married on April 28, 2018, in Denver, Colorado. Together they welcomed three sons: Gabriel, Roman, and Ezekiel. Daniel loved his boys fiercely. He approached fatherhood with the same passion and dedication he brought to every area of his life. His greatest championship was not won in a wrestling ring—it was the family he loved and nurtured every day.

Daniel leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Rae, three sons, Gabriel, Roman, and Ezekiel, parents, Fredrick and Diane King, four siblings, Terrence Williams (Gina), Laura King, Joseph King, and Joshua King, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, wrestling family, friends, and loved ones.

An exceptional drummer both on and off the field, Daniel spent his life marching to the beat of his own drum. He lived boldly, loved deeply, and left every place he entered a little more vibrant than he found it. Though his music has stopped, the rhythm of his influence lives on in the countless lives he touched and the legacy he leaves behind.
