Evaline (Wilson) Hampton

Evaline “Momma” Hampton, 88, of Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas, departed her loving family on Sunday, April 2, 2023.

Evaline was born in Paris, Lamar County, Texas, to Albert and Barbara Thompson Wilson.

She married Elzie Hampton, Jr., on September 27, 1972. They were married for 47 years until the passing of Elzie on Sunday, April 5, 2020. She loved to be called “Granny” by her grandkids. Evaline was also known as a stepmother and Godmother to countless other children she opened her home to and raised like her own. She raised her children with love and devotion in Amarillo, Texas, then moving to Pampa, Texas, in 1994, and finally relocating to Waxahachie, Texas.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Norma Jean Black Armstrong, Louis Ray Black, and Daniel Ray Hampton, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, other family members, and friends.

Evaline will also be dearly missed by her beloved church family and platinum-plus sisters and brothers.
