James Haskins

James Haskins Sr., 72, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016.

Services were held at Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. James Collins, pastor, officiating. Burial was at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Warford-Walker Mortuary.

James Willie Haskins was born Dec. 20, 1943, in Littlefield to Ed Haskins and Ollie Roberts. His parents preceded him in death. James drove all types of trucks for many years. He worked for Torres Trucking until his illness would no longer allow him to work. He loved spending time with his family. He was a loving and caring man. He was a stranger to no one. He would give you the shirt off his back. He lived in Amarillo for 40 years; 30 of those years were at 2508 Oak Drive. He was a Christian and loved studying his Bible.

Survivors include eight daughters; Tracy Patterson and Denise Price, both of Amarillo, Tammie Stillwell, Marilyn Haskins, Robbie Haskins, Elaine Thomas and Wanda Johnson, all of Lubbock, and Raquel Riley of Fort Worth; four sons, James Haskins Jr. of Fort Worth, Lee Anthony Haskins of Lubbock, Wesley Churchwell of Amarillo and Thomas James of Little Rock, Ark.; four sisters, Hattie Harris and Lena High, both of Lubbock, Christ Guess of Littlefield and Nollene Smith of Bryan; three brothers, Andrew Porter of Huntsville, Issac Haskins of Amarillo and Lee Johnson Jr. of Dumas; special friends, Kay Swain and Shelia Iredia; 30 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and many friends.
