Johnny B. Blanford, 68, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014.
Memorial services were held at Warford-Walker Mortuary. Arrangements were made by Warford-Walker Mortuary.
Mr. Blanford was born Oct. 13, 1946, to Lockridge Blanford and Pauline Etta Hudson. Johnny was known by several nicknames to his friends, Joe Cool and Joe, but none as favored as Papa Joe, called by his great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marilyn Blanford Woodruff.
Survivors include the love of his life, Diana; two sons, Jonathan Nickles and Marcus Nickles, both of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, April Wright of Amarillo; four sisters, Beatrice Balnford High and husband Charles of Denton, Elaine Blanford Richardson of Santa Monica, Calif., Sherri Ann Beverly and husband Robert of Stephenville and Terri Hudson Decker of Sweetwater; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and two close friends, P.L. Samuel and Mark Frank.
