Jose Trevizo, 83, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Jose was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Heriberto and Maria de la Luz Loya Trevizo. His family immigrated to the United States in 1952, where they settled down in Los Angeles, California.
In 1963, Jose met the love of his life, Blanca Martinez, whom he married the following year. They soon found themselves starting a family, and in 1966, they welcomed the first of their five beloved children.
He began studying the Bible in 1974 and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses alongside his wife on April 20, 1975. He was named a Ministerial Servant soon after and was given the privilege of serving as a Congregation Elder the following year.
Jose was a zealous minister of Jehovah. Over the years, he conducted countless Bible studies and helped nearly 50 people reach baptism. All the while, he worked tirelessly in various congregations, helping out wherever he could. Most notably, he worked on the hospital liaison committee for nine years, giving witness to the incarcerated for five years, and helping build and remodel over ten Kingdom Halls.
Outside of the congregation, Jose provided for his family for over 60 years as a skilled and talented carpenter. A lover of music, he spent much of his free time dancing, singing, or playing guitar alongside his friends and family. He loved camping, sweet treats, sci-fi, his friends, and his family. But above all else, he cherished his relationship with his heavenly father, Jehovah.
Affectionately known as “Lolo” to his family and “Abuelo” to all, his loved ones hold fast to their faith despite this devastating loss, for they know they’ll be reunited with him in the New World to come. There, he plans to build first a hacienda, and later the first spaceship in Paradise, where you’ll soon find him traveling the stars.
Jose is survived by his wife Blanca Trevizo, his children Sandra Kish (James), Nancy Trevizo, Joe Trevizo (Kelly), Kathy Trevizo, Peggy Trevizo Sosa (Juan Sosa), grandchildren Ashley Danielle Barrera (Kristian), Alex Vazquez (Taryn Ashley), Ariana Alexis Trevizo, Sierra Raelene Connell (Sean), Jocelyn Bianca Sosa, John Joseph Trevizo Sosa, Julian R. Jimenez Trevizo, Christina de Luna, Marlee Hathcoat, D. J. Hathcoat, great-grandchildren, Connor Franklin, Chloe Franklin, Camden Allen Arreola, Ryder Manuel Arellano, Snow Levi Hathcoat, and Baby Connell, a brother, Gabriel Trevizo, and a host of other relatives and friends.
