Lillie Cortez

Lillie Cortez, 66, of Amarillo died Thursday, July 21, 2016.
Services were held Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Temple of Praise Community Church with Rev. E.J. Cofer, Pastor of New Birth Bible Fellowship, officiating. Burial was in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Warford-Walker Mortuary.
In Amarillo, Texas on March 12, 1950 Jesse and Anna Burks were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Lillie Louise Burks.
Lillie was employed at Levi’s, The Big Texan, Iowa Beef Processing, The Craig, and Durham Transportation, until her health deteriorated. Being baptized at an early age, Lillie attended Emmanuel COGIC under the leadership of Rev. H.W. Cortez, and in later years Galilee COGIC under Rev. John T. Bowser.
Lillie leaves to cherish her loving spirit a sister; Merry Ann Rose, Houston, Tx. Two sons; Roy Jr (Cassandra) Amarillo, Tx. & Marion (Kay) San Antonio, Tx. Nine grandchildren: Akaxia Gilkey, Shannon Miller (Courtney), Jessica, Tianna “T.T.”, Travis, and Shylasinay “Shy” Cortez, Marion Jr. “Fella”, Raven Cortez, and Zyquirious “Zy” Davis; Five great grandchildren; Brailyn Evans, Anlya Gilkey, Braidyn Miller, and Tevin Donald Jr. and Jordan Cortez.
Lillie never met a stranger and anyone who met her will never forget her. Throughout life she wore several titles friend, cousin, aunty, sister-in-law, wife, mother, but her pride and joy came with being a grandmother.
