Maggie Lean (Lynch) Cleveland

Maggie Lean Lynch Cleveland, 81, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018.

She was born on November 2, 1936, to Jimmy and Albirta Lynch in Tyler, Smith County, Texas.  She was the sixth of eight children.  Mrs. Cleveland grew up in Lindale, Texas.  She was baptized at an early age at Thompson Hill Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas.

As a girl growing up in East Texas, she loved to dance.  She married Junior “Jim” Ray Cleveland on January 14, 1956.  To this union, they had three girls.  They move to Amarillo, Texas in 1960.  Mrs. Cleveland worked for the Amarillo Independent School District for forty years.  In her free time, she loved to sew.

Mrs. Cleveland was a longtime and faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church where she served in the Mission Society and sang in the choir until her passing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Jim, a daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Cleveland; two brothers, Emmitt Lynch and Sam Lynch; and two sisters, Katie Davis and Clarene Lynch.

Mrs. Cleveland leaves to cherish her memories, three sisters, Annie Ruth (Wilbert) Mitchell, of Dallas, Texas; Pearline (Donald) Williams of Tyler, Texas; and Evangelist Clera McDaniel of Tyler, Texas; two daughters, Jerenthia (Terry) Cleveland and Stacey (Terry) Cleveland Webb; three grandsons, Rayford (Alice) Cleveland, Derell (Cynthia) Milligan and Jeremy Hodgest; four granddaughters, Rhetta (Samuel) Alston; Monica (Reginald) Henderson; Angelica Jones and Kelly Cleveland, all of Amarillo, Texas; her great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, great nieces, nephews and family and friends.

She is now gone from our sight, but she will remain in our hearts forever.
