Marvin Smith

Marvin Smith, 76, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on March 30, 2018.

Marvin was born on December 10, 1941, to Willie and Minervia Smith in Clarksville, Texas.  He graduated from Carver High School in Amarillo, Texas in 1960 and was married to Maggie Carpenter on July 30, 1961.  They were married for 56 years.

Marvin worked as an Operator for Southwestern Public Service Company until he retired in 2000.  He enjoyed playing bingo, traveling, singing and collecting herbal vitamins.  He was a member of North Heights Church of Christ.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Denise Smith and siblings Willie Smith, Jr., Henry Smith and Cynthia Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Maggie, a brother, Lorenzo Smith, two daughters, Juanita (Rick) Tyler and Debra Smith, five grandchildren, Lionel Wilson, Sabela Gebremeskel, Alicia Wilson, Cynite Cooke and Toya Buggs, ten great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
