Mildred Olivia Collins, 59, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2026, in Amarillo, Potter County, Texas, a lifelong resident of Hereford, Deaf Smith County, Texas.
She was born in Hereford, Deaf Smith County, Texas, to Bishop Richard Collins, Sr., and Nellie Olivia Whitfield Collins. Mildred grew up surrounded by love, faith, and a powerful sense of community. During her childhood, she formed cherished lifelong bonds with her dear friends, Michelle Johnson and Theresa Brown. A proud graduate of Hereford High School, she later dedicated many years of service to the Hereford Independent School District, working in transportation. She was known for her kindness, reliability, and warm spirit--qualities that touched countless lives.
Mildred married Grover T. Hamilton, Jr., in Hereford, Texas. They were blessed with two children, Robert Collins and Olivia Hamilton, whom she cherished deeply.
Mildred was a woman of many gifts. She loved singing, baking, and cooking. Her home was often alive with music, laughter, and the comforting aroma of her homemade dishes. Her deep faith in God guided her steps and shaped her gentle, generous spirit. Whether through a heartfelt song, a warm meal, or a kind word, Mildred poured love into everything she did. Her presence was a blessing, and her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her unwavering faith carried her through life’s joys and challenges, leaving behind a legacy rooted in devotion, compassion, and grace.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Curtis Collins and Richard Collins, Jr., two sisters, Mary Brown and Lela McNealy, brother-in-law, Floyd Brown, two nieces, Jessica Contreraz and Christina Collins, and husband, Grover T. Hamilton, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Robert Collins of Turpin, Oklahoma, a daughter, Olivia Boyd, and her son-in-law, Trey Boyd of Amarillo, Texas, three sisters, Helen Thomas of Amarillo, Texas, Rose Brown of Round Rock, Texas, and Irene Oates (Earl) of Amarillo, Texas, a brother Ellis Collins (Mary) of Georgia, brother-in-law, Edward McNealy of Abilene, Texas, and remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
