Terry “Scobo” Orlando Perkins, 50, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018.

Terry was born on May 12, 1968, to Charles Edward Ashley and Melvia Gaye Perkins in Amarillo, Texas.

He was raised in Amarillo, Texas where he attended Hamlet Elementary School and Horace Mann Middle School.  He graduated from Palo Duro High School, with the Class of 1986 and attended Wiley Junior College in Marshall, Texas.  Terry was a member of Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church and was baptized at a very young age and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  His passion was cooking and grilling.  He was self-employed, catered and used his cooking skills to serve at community events and the homeless.  Terry learned that he had a gift and became an entrepreneur at a young age.  He was an extraordinary man, loving, generous, very genuine, down to earth and magnet for people.  Peopled loved to be around his fun and vibrant personality.  He was very family oriented and a wonderful father.  He loved his children dearly and often said they were his greatest accomplishment.  Terry was loved and well respected in the community.  He was truly a blessing and touched many lives.  His legacy will live on and he will be greatly missed.  There was only one “Scobo.” He was a man of love, integrity. “Not goodbye , but see you later.”

In 2007, he met the love of his life, Ashley Sanchez.  To this union, Ja’Drien Sanchez-Perkins was born.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Leola Timmons, his grandfather, Illinois Perkins, a step-father, Rudy Carl Scott, a brother, Melvin Carl Scott and aunts Myrtle Perkins, Rozelle Perkins and Mary Perkins.

Mr. Perkins leaves to cherish his memories, his father, Charles Edward (Cheryl) Ashley and his mother, Melvia Gaye Perkins, his wife, Ashley Sanchez Perkins, a daughter, Jasmine Perkins of Houston, Texas, three sons, Orlando J. Perkins, of Lubbock, Texas, Jameson Sanchez-Brown and Ja’Drien Sanchez-Perkins both of Amarillo, Texas, three brothers, Tim (Carla) Ashley of Dallas, Texas, Chass Ashley of Amarillo, Texas, Varporeum (Rashunda) Ashley of Amarillo, Texas and a sister, Rudana Scott, of Atlanta, Georgia, his father and mother-in-law, Jim and Grace Sanchez of Amarillo, Texas, three sister-in-laws, Jamie Sanchez of Amarillo, Texas, Jordan (Brandon) Owens of Fort Worth, Texas, Sandy (Jeffery) Sanchez Burroughs of Fort Worth, Texas and host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends and a special aunt, Catherine Walker of Dallas, Texas.
