Willie Asberry, 81, of Amarillo died Friday, Sept. 4, 2015.
Services were held at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Morris Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Warford-Walker Mortuary.
Willie Earl Asberry was born in Rosebud, TX on March 3, 1933. He grew up and attended public school in Memphis, TX. Willie moved to Amarillo, TX in 1953, where he met and married his beloved wife, Grace Asberry of 50 years.
Willie was employed by and retired from Santa Fe Railroad. He also operated his own small hauling / landscaping business upon retirement. He was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church of Amarillo, TX.
Willie is survived by his wife, Grace Asberry of Amarillo, TX; five sons - bobby Asberry of Inglewood, CA, Carl Asberry, Rick Akers, Rodney Asberry, and Cedric Asberry all of Amarillo, TX; four daughters - Doris Johnson, Jeanetta Johnson, Sheila Whitaker, and Rene Asberry, all of Amarillo, TX; ten grandsons, six granddaughters, eighteen great-grandsons, sixteen great-granddaughters, two great-great-grandsons, four great-great-granddaughters, seven sons / daughters-in-law, two brothers, four sisters, and a host of nieces, nephews, brothers / sisters-in-law, and friends.
