Cornelius Anthony Gray, 53, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021.
Cornelius was born in Rayville, Richland County, Louisiana to Lonnie Haney and Johnnie Mae Gray.
At the age of three, he moved with his mom and siblings to San Diego, California, where he was raised along with his siblings. Also, some of his aunts and an uncle also moved to California which allowed him to be raised with many cousins. They had fun and those were the good ole days!
Cornelius graduated from Montgomery High School in Chula Vista, California in 1986. This was most likely one of the highlights of his young life. At the age of 30, he decided to become a Texan and moved to Amarillo, Texas. This was a great highlight of his life. Cornelius resided in Amarillo, Texas, until his passing. He loved to repair things and was good at drawing.
Mr. Gray was employed with Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home. He was a bachelor his entire life and did not have any children.
He was preceded in death by an aunt, Edna Gray, and an uncle, Sammy Gray.
Mr. Gray leaves to cherish his memories, his mother and his step-father, John Sherrell, three sisters, Mary Davis, Ruby (Manzelleus) Gardner, and Nancy (Juan) Carter Francis, three nieces, Octavia Gardner, Lynshel Brand, and Ta’Mara Davis, three nephews, Irwin Gray, Jamahl Gardner, and Ja-Quann Gray, two great-nieces, five great-nephews, two aunts, Elizabeth Gray and Rosie Chester, an uncle, Henry (Maxie) Gray, and other relatives, and friends.
