Mrs. Wilma Jean Bates Warford, 95, of Amarillo, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, October 17, 2022.
She was born in Electra, Wichita County, Texas, to Marvin Lloyd and Willie M. Black Bates.
Wilma was an only child and a resident of Amarillo, Texas for more than 70 years.
She attended the Amarillo Independent Schools and furthered her education by attending Prairie View A&M University.
Mrs. Warford was married to her childhood sweetheart, Mr. Charles Emmett Warford for over 75 years. To this union was born one daughter, Carol Ann Shepard.
She was a licensed vocational nurse for over 20 years at Saint Anthony’s Hospital, located at Polk Street and Amarillo Boulevard. She also assisted her husband at Warford-Walker Mortuary from time to time.
In 2017, after the passing of her loving husband, Charles, Wilma decided to move to Manvel, Texas with her daughter and son-in-law. They enjoyed her company and she enjoyed living with them.
In 2022, after her 95th birthday party, Wilma fell and injured herself. She tried to recover back to being independent, but her health continued to fail.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughter, Carol Warford Shepard (Emmett), of Manvel, Texas, two grandsons, Charles Coffer of Dickinson, Texas, and Bradwick Lamont Warford Coffer of Houston, Texas, two great-grandsons, Charles Coffer, III, and Xandon Coffer, and one great-great-granddaughter, Avalencia Estelle Coffer.
